The resort of Kiten is situated on a small peninsula at the south end of the Primorsko Bay and 56 km. south of Bourgas , 446 km. south-east of Sofia , 5 km. south of the region center of Primorsko and 12 km. north-west of the neighboring region center of Tsarevo . The village was founded by the migrants , the Odrin Thracians . Its roots go to the ancient times deeply in 6 century B.C. The contemporary village Kiten was founded in 1931 by refugees from Greece and the migrants from the neighboring settlements . After 1970 the town of Kiten turned into an attractive center for many tourists from all over the world . Kiten is located on the peninsula , surrounded by the picturesque bays from the both sides . The North beach , named “ Atliman “- is a wonderful , eternally calm bay , defended from winds , with fine sand and quiet sea . The South beach is bigger , than the Northern , and borders on the river Kitenska , which has a lot of fish , such as trout , bream , etc. There is a base for the yachts and water sports . The resort season in Kiten begins still in May and lasts to October . The resort village Kiten takes pride in its name .
